The Masked Owl
Among the shadows of Tasmania's dense forests, the masked owl graces the night with its presence. With its distinctive heart-shaped face and large wingspan, this enigmatic creature is both captivating and elusive. They are known to live in takayna / the Tarkine region.
Platypus
The near-threatened platypus, a true marvel of evolution, is a living link to the distant past. This egg-laying mammal, with its duck-like bill and webbed feet, inhabits Tasmania's rivers and streams - including the Hobart rivulet. The Tasmanian platypus, larger than the mainland platypus, faces threats from habitat degradation and pollution. It needs to find water beetles to feed on and have enough healthy river to have mating territories, lay eggs, and hatch the next generation.
Weedy Seadragon
With its leafy body of with small weed-like appendages, it camouflages beautifully among seaweeds. The male carries the eggs in his tail until they hatch........ "
